Renee Carlson serves as General Counsel for True North Legal, directing the legal initiative of Minnesota Family Council, where she passionately advocates for life, family, and religious freedom through public policy, education initiatives, and the courts.

Renee's work has provided strategic legal advocacy for individuals, organizations, churches, parents, and school boards in Minnesota particularly in matters relating to constitutionally protected rights under the First Amendment and advancing pro-family policies. She also regularly supports national advocacy efforts through amicus briefs at the U.S. Supreme Court.

In her role, Renee also advises state legislators and government officials, researches and drafts legislation, and provides legislative testimony at the Minnesota State Capitol. Her recent efforts at the Capitol include leading the coalition to protect girls’ sports and drafting two bills to that end, working with key state allies to restore statutory protections for religious organizations that were removed from the Minnesota Human Rights Act and defeating an extreme state ERA.

Renee has been featured in local and national media as a leading voice and influence in the social conservative movement. Her work has been quoted or featured in many publications, including National Review, Fox News, USA Today, The Federalist, and Liz Collin Reports. With a passion for people and grassroots engagement Renee helped spearhead Minnesota’s first United for Life Day at the state Capitol and has emceed and participated in multiple Capitol rallies and press conferences.

Prior to leading True North Legal, Renee worked in private practice serving churches and parachurch ministries, as a Minnesota Assistant County Attorney and at the Minnesota State Senate.

Renee received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and J.D. from the University of St. Thomas School of Law.

Doug Wardlow is a seasoned litigator who has spent his entire career working to protect and extend constitutional freedoms.  Doug previously served as a litigator for Alliance Defending Freedom, where he fought to vindicate the First Amendment speech and religious rights of individuals and business owners in cases across the country. In addition, Doug practiced international trade litigation as an associate at Skadden Arps in Washington D.C., where he fought importation of unfairly dumped and subsidized steel products from China and other countries, and he practiced business and eminent-domain litigation at Parker Rosen in Minneapolis. Doug also served in the Minnesota House of Representatives, and he was the 2018 Republican nominee for Minnesota Attorney General.

Doug graduated from Georgetown University in 2001 and earned his law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in 2004. After graduating from law school, he clerked for Justice G. Barry Anderson on the Minnesota Supreme Court.

Doug and his wife, Jenny, have four children and live in Prior Lake, Minnesota.
